- How can I get to Bowen Secondary School?
Our school is situated along the junction of the main roads of Yio Chu Kang Road and Hougang Ave 2. Thus, it is easily accessible by public buses from MRT stations such as Ang Mo Kio MRT, Hougang MRT or Serangoon MRT.

- How can I contact or get in touch with my child’s form/subject teachers?
We encourage parents/guardians to contact the General Office when trying to get in touch with specific teachers in our school. They are the best people to assist you as they will be able to direct your call to the specific teacher or take a message to get the teacher to return your call. Do leave your name, child’s name and class and your contact number so that the teacher will be able to return your call.

- What time does the school start?
Morning assembly starts at 7.30am on regular school days. Students are encouraged to reach school early especially on rainy days, as traffic can be heavy during inclement weather.
- What are the school rules regarding attire and uniform?
The school uniform is a key symbol of school identity. Students should wear the school uniform neatly and with pride. All students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modifications to the uniform are not allowed.

- I am a student and I am travelling out of Singapore during the holidays. Must I disclose my travel plans?
Yes. You should inform the school of your travel plans if your family plans to bring you on a holiday out of Singapore during the school holidays. You should declare your travel plans via the Parents Gateway (PG) app.

Finance Matters
- How much are the current school fees?
All students will receive their bills for school, miscellaneous and autonomous fees by postal mail to their home address from MOE directly. You can find out detailed information about secondary school fees from the MOE website here >>>
- How can school fees payment be made?
OPTION 1: GIRO
Parents are encouraged to pay their children’s fees through GIRO so that the pupils do not have to bring large sums of cash to school. GIRO deduction will be made monthly from February to December. The deduction in February will include the fees for January. Deduction date is on 26th of every month. Eg: For March fees, the deduction date will be on 26th March.
(Please note that GIRO deductions will be suspended after two consecutive unsuccessful deductions due to insufficient funds. Students will then receive cash bills and will have to pay the outstanding amount in cash. GIRO deduction will be reinstated once all outstanding fees have been paid.)
OPTION 2: CHEQUE
For cheque payment, either post the cheque or submit it to our General Office. Please make cheques payable to “Bowen Secondary School”.
OPTION 3: CASH
Alternatively, you may make cash payments at our General Office.
- What are the MOE financial schemes available?
Singapore Citizens in Government and Government-aided schools can apply for assistance under the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS). Application forms are available for collection in-person at the school’s General Office. If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to call the school’s General Office to find out more.

- How can students under FAS go about redeeming Transport Subsidy?
Students on FAS may redeem the evouchers via the Transitlink eVoucher System from the 28th of the current month to the 10th of the next month.
Evouchers can be redeemed at any Transitlink Add Value Machines or Transit Link Ticket Offices located at selected stations such as Hougang and Serangoon stations.

Personal Learning Device (PLD) Matters
- When was the Personal Learning Device launched in Bowen Secondary School
On the 27 August 2021, Sec 1 to Sec 3 students will receive their Personal Learning Device. They are expected to bring their PLD (fully-charged) to school daily and to bring it home after school hours. They are not allowed to leave it in school.
- My child’s Personal Learning Device is experiencing some issues. Who should I contact for assistance?
Please encourage your child to first contact the school’s ICT Service Desk first with the device when he or she is in school. We can then advice if it is necessary to contact the PLD service centre for further assistance. Otherwise, you may also contact the PLD service centre directly. - Where is the Bowen ICT Service Desk located and what are the operating hours?

- Does the school have lockers for my child to secure his Personal Learning Device?
From 11 August 2021, our school provides each student with a locker for the academic year to secure his/her Personal Learning Device. The locker is equipped with a 4 digit combination lock which the student con configure by himself/herself. At the end of the academic year, students will return and clear their lockers. The school will reassign the lockers to students the following academic year. The school reserves the right to conduct spot-checks to ensure that the contents of the lockers adhere to the school rules.

- My child has forgotten his passwords for his school-based learning platforms. How can I reset them?
The school uses several on-line platforms for e-learning and HBL. If students have forgotten their passwords and require assistance to reset their passwords, they should first proceed with the following self-help procedures. As a last resort, they may contact their Form Teachers for assistance.

Students may get locked out of the system if there are too many failed attempts. SLS also require students to have a minimum of 12 character password.

The school’s SWN Wi-Fi network provides students who bring their own devices, a means to connect to the internet for learning purposes using their school IAMS account,

The Parent Gateway(PG) Mobile App is an initiative by MOE to enable parents to interact with schools more conveniently on administrative and financial matters. Parents will also be able to use this app to stay updated on school’s programme and activities.

- Are students allowed to bring their Mobile Phones to school?
We want our students to be responsible users of their mobile devices. Students are expected to lock their mobile phones in their lockers during curriculum time, CCAs and Learning Journeys so as not to be a source of distraction. Students can use their mobile phones only in designated areas such as the canteen and foyer only after school hours.

Photographs or video images of students or their legal guardians may be taken during school activities and events such as classroom lessons, CCA, school camps, or school concerts. The school may use and publish such photographs or video recordings in school publications, the school’s website, social media channels, or other communication channels.
